Many of my readers have had their nails turn ugly yellow or black or crumble off (they call this Onychomycosis (on-i-ko-mi-KO-sis)) and have asked me what I recommend to prevent further fungus infestation or even return their nails that they lost already … and FAST. Nobody wants ugly nails that will gross out people when you take of your shoes.

So what should a person do?

The big buzz as of late in the nail care circles have been all natural organic treatments that help suppress fungus from growing in the nail. Some of the ingredients used in newer nail fungus treatments are “tea tree oil”.

So it’s important to create an environment in the nail that will prevent fungus from growing in the first place. Infections with nail fungus occurs more in nails than in fingernails because nails are often confined in a dark, warm, moist environment inside your shoes

Technically when you have nail fungus, the dermatophytes are the fungi most commonly responsible for onychomycosis, but I’m not going to go into a lot of detail here about what nail fungus (onychomycosis) is and its basis in Science – you can research that on your own if you want.

Why did I do the study?

As you probably already know, I work in a nail and skin salon, so I do a lot of nail treatments, manicures, pedicures and other nail procedures on my clients. Keith’s Story
